What does the first message look like?

If you’re messaging someone for the first time and they haven’t messaged you yet, you’ll need to start with a template message. You can learn more about WhatsApp templates here.

Now you might be wondering — what does that look like for the person receiving it? If they’ve never heard from you before, will they just see your WhatsApp number? Or will your business name show up instead?

Good to know:

  • When someone receives your message on WhatsApp, they’ll see your business name and logo front and center—so they know exactly who it’s from.
  • They’ll also see your blue check mark, showing that you’re a verified and trusted business on WhatsApp (thanks, Meta!).
  • Right at the top of the chat, where users usually see who they’re talking to, your business name and that blue check mark is visible.
  • Your phone number doesn’t show up at all—and honestly, that’s probably for the best. It’s your brand that matters here, not the digits.
