React Javascript Frontend Developer

Welcome! Are you a React developer looking for a small, remote team and what you do not need is yet another corporate banking/gambling/advertising job? Awesome! Here’s the gist of why you’re in the right place: A company with a social focus, and a generous vacation policy. You’ll work in a small dev team, remote only. Up to $3.75k/mo and with a 4-day work week.

About us

Forbes Magazine says we’re a “Leading Startup” and a “Notable Social Enterprise.” We’ve been covered by Tech in Asia, Reuters, e27, Philippine Daily Inquirer,, SunStar, and Manila Times. The National University of Singapore and DBS Bank picked us as a Top 6 Social Enterprise across all of Asia.

Help grow our customer base with users in 170+ countries, including many well-known non-profits and businesses, such as Unilever, various United Nations agencies, Johns Hopkins University, Mercy Corps, Mars, Asian Development Bank, and many others. Our customers include NGOs improving the lives of poor people and businesses interacting with their customers. We’re building our DIY platform for them. Products to do this include surveys with SMS or WhatsApp, automated calls, and Airtime Topups.

While making our customers happy is obviously very important, so is that we keep things friendly and healthy. We’re working fully remotely (since before the pandemic) and don’t have an office.

Want to know more about what we do? Learn more about our costumers and what we do for them, for example by reading about Mercy Corps—one of our first customers—and their financial literacy campaign.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced React web developer, who loves not just coding beautiful UIs but solving problems. Who knows when to obsess about pixel perfect, about code quality, tests and tooling – or when to hack something instead. Are you passionate without an attitude?

Our market is changing all the time and that goes for our platform as well: New features are being added all the time. So you’ll have to understand a problem from the customers perspective quickly, find the right design and technology for the task, convince your colleagues, and build it. If you enjoy this kind of challenge, this job is for you.

Also, you’d be the only UI dev on our small dev team—that has its own rewards, but also challenges.

Here’s what you’ll do, for the most part

  • Discuss the specs of the feature / tech issue you’ll be working on. Propose a design. Code. Pass CI. Review, always. Test. Deploy. Fix.
  • Take care of our production system. Pushing code is not enough. We believe that we build more useful things, if we’re the ones deploying and running our code, too. (For you, this will be related to the UI of course.)
  • You’ll improve things! Our product, the tools and processes we use, your colleagues and you: All of that can become better, we’re a small team, and it’s not happening by itself. Help do that! 🙂

Want to know more about what you’ll do? Feel free to sign up on the platform and snoop around.

Experience you need to have

  • You’ve spent a few years developing web frontends.
  • React: You’ve worked professionally with it for at least one year.
  • Cross-browser: you don’t just build for Firefox on Arch Linux.
  • You have experience with a VCS, ideally Git. You know GitHub. Feature branches and pull requests are obvious.
  • Testing your code is normal for you.
  • You’ve worked remotely before. You think that working with an international, multi-cultural team is fun, not a drag.

About our Remote Team

  • English is our team language so you must speak and write it fluently.
  • We play board games to stay in touch, at least once a week. Would be great if you’re not opposed to trying. 🙂
  • Once a year we try to meet. Didn’t work the last two years, but it should be possible in the future.
  • On the devteam side, we’d like to stick to UTC-1 to UTC+9 timezones, to have enough overlap.

Salary & Benefits

  • Up to $3.75k, depending upon experience
  • 4 days work week
  • Paid Vacation
  • Paid Sick Leave
  • And … write code to change the world
